If your company is already on the carbon offset bandwagon and committed to net zero, expect things to go to the next level in the coming year. The net zero emissions initiative is currently booming, but we expect it to soon be superseded by climate positivity, whereby a company’s activities are actually creating an environmental benefit by removing additional carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
The panelists for the discussion were Col. Sunil Sharma, Head of HSSE at APM Terminals, Mumbai, Mr. Shankar R., HSE&S and ESG Mentor, Mr. Murali P A, Vice President & Head of HSE at Nayara Energy, Mumbai. The panel was moderated by Mr. Avdesh Malaiya, Founder President of OHSSAI.
The panel concluded that, with lot of technological options available, every industry should think on reducing carbon footprint, circular economy, waste minimization, etc. However, the panel also focused on individual responsibility towards ‘Net Zero and Climate Positivity’, because if the entire population of 1.35 billion makes a contribution, the results shall be impactful. We have already witnessed this during the Covid 19 lockdown that since the carbon footprint from entire 1.35 billion was to minimum, there was a sudden shift in ecological balance where sea were clean, air was clean, etc. etc. So individual responsibility and individual behaviour shall also play important role along with the role of industries.
